Randy rascals, skydiving scoundrels, winsome wenches, handsome knights (one of the Golden), princesses, ladies, lords and kings all gathered this past weekend to celebrate the official opening of the 2007 season with the Renaissance Boogie.
We were happy to have Golden Knight Tom Falzone for RW organizing and general entertainment. Thank you to all the fun jumpers who came out, and congratulations to the many, many jumpers who got themselves recurrent this weekend! During the day, jumpers could have fortunes read at manifest, or simply consult the magic faery dust bowl for answers to all their questions. They could visit the faery garden on the back deck, created by Dana, or just enjoy the festival decorative swords and sheilds created by Bubba's uncle and Cross Keys alumnus Mike Williams. Many people took advantage of the hat making crafts in Square 3 provided by Pam, and emerged looking like princesses and dunces! Others sentenced each other to the stocks in the dungeon/packing mat!
The evening celebrations included a delicious traditional medieval feast by Mark's Menu, which we ate with our hands in the style of the times. Wendy David returned to Cross Keys for the weekend and provided a spectacular fire show to music. Jason provided music and general giggles. In addition, we celebrated two birthdays: John Eddowes turned 29, and Sean Harkins, everyone's favorite manifest dude, turned 21! Both celebrated at the fully stocked Ottley's Inn and Tavern, served by a lovely wench from Taylor's, where all libations were compliments of Freefall Adventures.
Thanks to all the instructors for hangar decorations, especially Range who organized turning the lockers into a castle rampart. Thanks to Pancake for especially enlightening posters and directives. Thanks to Mark the pilot for thinking up the whole shebang, and creating Lord and Lady Trashcan. Thanks to special guests Wendy, Tom, and Jason for adding so much fun to the weekend. Thanks to Pam for making dunces out of the lot of us. Thanks to Neal and Sam for Zultan, who knows all! Thanks to the enthusiastically evil people who created a real stockade that locks! Thanks to everyone who dressed for the occasion in surprisingly detailed and authentic Ren-wear. Thanks to Mark's Menu for a well-researched and authentic feast. Thanks to the faeries who gave us such good luck and good fortunes. And thanks to John and Freefall Adventures for the boogie and the good mead afterwards. Happy Birthday!

Elvis was in the building, as Las Vegas came to Cross Keys Saturday night! And there was shakin', rattlin', and rollin' at the busy roulette, poker, and black jack tables set out on the casino carpet in the hangar. The Official Season Opener turned up Vegas-style, with perfect jumping weather all day and an energetic crowd all night. We enjoyed a live band, (name), the grooves of DJ Harry Wendt, and even Elvis, himself throughout the fun-packed evening. Gambling winners took home CK1 freefly coach jumps, jump tickets, a free reserve repack, free lunches and t-shirts Thanks to sponsors Skydive Cross Keys, Rigging Adventures and Mark’s Menu.
Also making an impressive debut this weekend was the CK1 Freefly School. Jimmy Tranter, Will Lajeunesse, and Yonatan Ran organized freefly and tracking dives all weekend for both advanced and low-time freeflyers. Will worked with a group of female freefly athletes who were so pleased with their success that they are planning a women's freefly camp in the near future!
The weekend attracted many new faces from all over the East Coast, and we were happy to make new friends from Maryland, Virginia, New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Canada. We hope to see you here a lot this coming season. Many thanks to Skydive Cross Keys for sponsoring the event, to Wendy David for organizing every detail, to Mark from Mark's Menu who worked day and night to provide delicious meals, to Lauren our "Load Girl", to Harry the DJ, and, of course, to Elvis. We love you man.

The Goblins were out in force on Halloween night, and many of them had French accents! Yes, it was the Canadian Invasion again, and the Quebecois made their second visit to Skydive Cross Keys this season. We had lots of visitors for the costume party, including Batman and Satan, himself!
Hands-down costume winners were Sam and Neal for their portrayal of Lancelot and Guinevere, and for their very real engagement right in the middle of the party! Many thanks to Jason Aubin for spinning great tunes until 2, and to Chris Schreier for the party trays full of sandwiches and all of our snacks! Albert and Howard provided two medicine trays full of jello-medicine, and of course the French Canadians supplied plenty of fun beverages. Yahoo!

CK Reborn Freefly Boogie - Sept. 24-25th
Everyone had a great weekend despite the weather doing its best to keep us on the ground. John Klueg was organizing together with Yonatan Ran and put together some awesome skydives.
The Skyhook from Relative Workshop challenged all jumpers to their ulimate skill level with loads of intentional cutaways.
Cherie Schuch did a fantastic job in organizing the 4-way scrambles. Unfortunately, the winds and weather prevented the intermediate jumpers from attending for both days. Hopefully the weather will co-operate for the upcoming events.
